Atlantic Regional Osteopathic Convention

The Atlantic Regional Osteopathic Convention, known as AROC, is hosted annually by the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (NJAOPS). Founded in 1901, NJAOPS is a member-supported professional medical association that represents the interests of over 5,000 osteopathic physicians, residents, interns and medical students in the state. Next year, the association proudly celebrates 115 years of service to New Jersey’s medical community.

Education Program

AROC 2017 Program Goals and CME Credits

Global goals for AROC 2017 are designed to illustrate the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons commitment to provide independent, needs-based education that fosters change in physicians’ knowledge, competence and performance to ultimately improve patient outcomes.



  • Offer a core curriculum of clinical education, including comprehensive reviews of established practice patterns as well as new developments in diagnosis and treatment
  • Provide updates of available pharmaceuticals, medical devices and management strategies
  • Disseminate information related to practice management, quality of care, ethical practices and non-clinical topics that contribute to desired patient outcomes
  • Provide a forum for analyzing and critiquing new medical information



  • Foster the translation of evidence-based science into daily clinical practice.
  • Provide training in clinical diagnostics and procedures, including osteopathic manipulative techniques, presented in self-paced and hands-on format.
  • Promote professional exchanges between and within specialty groups with similar clinical and/or educational interests


Target Audience

AROC 2017 is intended for all professionals involved in delivering patient care, with particular emphasis on physicians. Nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and physician assistants, as well as medical students, will also benefit.



The New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (NJAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association for AOA Category 1-A CME credits and by the Medical Society of New Jersey for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(TM) for continuing medical education.


Education Mandates

The AROC 2016 program offers attendees mandatory education credits:


  • HIPAA — HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules is an annual training requirement for all healthcare
    professionals at HIPAA covered entities.
  • New Jersey — End-of-life patient care/POLST. Two (2) Category 1 credit hours are required for biannual New Jersey license renewal beginning June 2015 for physicians and advance practice nurses.
  • Florida — Five (5) mandatory hours are required as part of biannual Florida license renewal. Individual credits earned are included on your Florida credits report; credits are submitted to Florida electronically if a license number was provided.
  • Pennsylvania — Twelve (12) patient safety/risk management credit hours are required for Pennsylvania biannual license renewal.

Location and Venue:

AROC 2017 offers participants guest room options at the headquarters hotel, Bally’s Atlantic City, as well as Caesars Atlantic City, connected by a skywalk. Both are minutes from convention activities and offer convention participants a wider choice of accommodations. Exclusively for AROC participants, early check-in fees are waived and fitness center and pool use are included at no extra charge. Also, hotel guests only pay for garage parking when they depart at the end of the convention. Show your room card to the parking attendant during the week for unlimited garage access during the week.

Located at the famous address of Park Place and the Boardwalk, Bally's Atlantic City offers accommodations in the Bally Tower minutes from convention registration to the elevator. Bally Tower provides generous 450 sq.ft. rooms, refrigerators and custom granite in the bathroom, while Dennis Tower affords guests 400 sq.ft. rooms with refrigerators and marble or custom granite in the bathroom. The convention discounted room rate is $139 plus taxes and fees Monday through Thursday and $194 Friday.
